Significance of Amalaki Ekadashi

Where it is celebrated: all over India

On this day the amla tree is worshipped, because Lord Vishnu is believed to dwell in it.

In Kashi it is called Rangbhari Ekadashi; it is believed that after their wedding Shiva ji brought Mata Parvati to Kashi, and the colours of Holi begin from here.

Sometimes the Smarta (householder) and Vaishnav Ekadashi fall on different days; followers of the Vaishnav tradition keep the vrat on the next day.
