Ambe Tu Hai Jagadambe Kali — aarti — full lyrics and English meaning
'Ambe Tu Hai Jagadambe Kali' is one of the most sung aartis in Navratri and Mata ki Chowki. Its refrain is 'O Maiya Hum Sab Utaren Teri Aarti', and every verse asks Maa for the protection of devotees and the boon of bhakti.
In Navratri, on Ashtami and in Mata ki Chowki — along with Jai Ambe Gauri and Durga Chalisa.

Ambe tu hai jagadambe kali, jai durge khappar vali ।
Tere hi gun gaen bharti ।
O maiya ham sab utaren teri arti ॥
O Maa Ambe, you are Jagdamba and Kali; O Durga Maa who holds the khappar, victory to you. All of Bharat sings your virtues — O Maiya, we all perform your aarti. (Refrain)
Tere bhakt janon par, bhir pari hai bhari man ।
Danav dal par tut paro, man karke sinh savari ॥
Sau-sau sinhon se balshali, asht bhujaon vali,
Dushton ko pal men sanharti ।
O maiya ham sab utaren teri arti ॥
Mother, great trouble has befallen your devotees. Ride your lion and fall upon the hordes of demons. You are mightier than hundreds of lions, with eight arms, destroying the wicked in a moment.
Man bete ka hai is jag men, bara hi nirmal nata ।
Put-kaput sune hain par na, mata suni kumata ॥
Sab pe karuna darsane vali, amrit barsane vali,
Dukhiyon ke dukhre nivarti ।
O maiya ham sab utaren teri arti ॥
In this world the bond of mother and son is the most sacred. We have heard of an unworthy son, but never of an unworthy mother. You show compassion to all, shower amrit and remove the sorrows of the suffering.
Nahin mangte dhan aur daulat, na chandi na sona man ।
Ham to mangen man tere man men, ik chhota sa kona ॥
Sabki bigri banane vali, laj bachane vali,
Satiyon ke sat ko sanvarti ।
O maiya ham sab utaren teri arti ॥
Mother, we do not ask for wealth, silver or gold — we only want a small corner in your heart. You set right what has gone wrong for everyone, protect their honour and guard the virtue of faithful women.
Charan sharan men khare tumhari, le puja ki thali ।
Varad hast sar par rakh do, man sankat harne vali ॥
Man bhar do bhakti ras pyali, asht bhujaon vali,
Bhakton ke karaj tu hi sarti ।
O maiya ham sab utaren teri arti ॥
Holding the puja thali, we stand in the shelter of your feet. O Mother who removes troubles, place your boon-giving hand on our heads. O eight-armed one, fill our cup with the nectar of bhakti — you alone fulfil all the work of your devotees.
Ambe Tu Hai Jagadambe Kali — the paath of the aarti is complete.
