Dashrath Krit Shani Stotra — Namah Krishnaya Nilaya, with meaning
According to the Padma Purana, King Dashrath pleased Shanidev by singing this stotra, and Shani promised not to trouble those who read it.
On Saturday, light a diya under the peepal and recite it.

Namah krishnay nilay shitikanthanibhay cha ।
Namah kalagnirupay kritantay cha vai namah ॥
I bow to Shanidev — dark, blue, coloured like Neelkanth, like the fire of dissolution, in the form of Yama.
Namo nirmansadehay dirghashmashrujtay cha ।
Namo vishalanetray shushkodar bhayakrite ॥
I bow to Shanidev — of lean body, long beard and matted locks, large eyes, sunken belly and fearsome form.
Namah pushkalagatray sthularomne'tha vai namah ।
Namo dirghay shushkay kaladanshtra namo'stu te ॥
O Shanidev, of huge body, thick hair, tall, dry, with fangs like death — I bow to you.
Namaste kotarakshay durnirikshyay vai namah ।
Namo ghoray raudray bhishnay kapaline ॥
I bow to Shanidev — deep-eyed, hard to look upon, terrible, fierce, dreadful, bearing a skull.
Namaste sarvabhakshay balimukh namo'stu te ।
Suryaputra namaste'stu bhaskare'bhayday cha ॥
O Shanidev, devourer of all, mighty-faced, son of Surya, giver of fearlessness — I bow to you.
Adhodrishte namaste'stu sanvartak namo'stu te ।
Namo mandagte tubhyan nistrinshay namo'stute ॥
O Shanidev, with downcast gaze, bringer of dissolution, slow-moving, sharp as a sword — I bow to you.
Tapsa dagdhadehay nityan yogartay cha ।
Namo nityan kshudhartay atriptay cha vai namah ॥
I bow to Shanidev — his body burnt by tapas, ever engaged in yoga, ever hungry and never satisfied.
Gyanachakshurnamaste'stu kashyapatmajasunve ।
Tushto dadasi vai rajyan rushto harsi tatkshanat ॥
O you with the eye of knowledge, grandson of Kashyap (son of Surya), I bow to you; when pleased you give a kingdom, and when displeased you take it away that very moment.
Devasuramanushyashch siddhvidyadharorgah ।
Tvaya vilokitah sarve nashan yanti samulatah ॥
Gods, asuras, humans, siddhas, vidyadharas and nagas — when your (cruel) gaze falls on them, all are destroyed to the root.
Prasadan kuru me saure vardo bhav bhaskare ।
Evan stutastada saurirgrahrajo mahabalah ॥
O son of Surya, be gracious to me and grant a boon — praised thus (by King Dashrath), the mighty king of planets, Shani, was pleased.
The paath of Dashrath Krit Shani Stotra is complete.
