Maiya mori main nahin makhan khayo ।
Little Krishna says — Mother, I did not eat the butter.
Bhor bhayo gaiyan ke pachhe, madhuban mohin pathayo ।
Char pahar bansibat bhatakyo, sanjh pare ghar ayo ॥
As soon as it was morning, you sent me to Madhuban behind the cows. I wandered at Bansivat all four watches and came home in the evening — so when would I eat butter?
Main balak bahiyan ko chhoto, chhinko kihi bidhi payo ।
Gval bal sab bair pare hain, barbas mukh laptayo ॥
I am a little boy with short arms — how could I reach the high hanging pot? All the cowherd boys are against me; they forcibly smeared butter on my face.
Tu janni man ki ati bhori, inke kahe patiayo ।
Jiy tere kachhu bhed upji hai, jani parayo jayo ॥
Mother, you are so innocent at heart that you believed their words. It seems doubt has come into your mind and you have started thinking of me as someone else's son.
Yah lai apni lakuti kamriya, bahuthin nach nachayo ।
Surdas tab bihansi jasoda, lai ur kanth lagayo ॥
Here, take your stick and blanket — you have made me dance enough. Surdas says — hearing this, Yashoda burst out laughing and hugged Kanha.
The paath of Maiya Mori Main Nahin Makhan Khayo — Surdas is complete.
