Subah Ke Mantra — from Karagre Vasate Lakshmih to Guru Vandana, with meaning

The day begins by looking at the palms with 'Karagre Vasate Lakshmih', followed by mantras for bowing to the earth, bathing, offering arghya to the sun and lighting the diya. These are the best ones to teach children.

Uthte Hi — Hatheli Darshan

Karagre vaste lakshmih karamadhye saraswati ।
Karmule tu govindah prabhate karadarshanam ॥

Lakshmi dwells at the tips of the fingers, Saraswati in the middle and Govind at the base; so one should look at one's palms on waking.

Dharti Par Pair Rakhne Se Pahle — Bhumi Vandna

Samudravsane devi parvatastanamandite ।
Vishnupatni namastubhyan padasparshan kshamaswa me ॥

O Mother Earth, clothed in the ocean, adorned with mountains, wife of Vishnu, I bow to you; forgive the touch of my feet.

Snan Karte Samay

Gange cha yamune chaiv godavri saraswati ।
Narmade sindhu kaveri jale'smin sannidhin kuru ॥

O Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri, may you all be present in this water. (May the bathing water be pure)

Surya Ko Arghya Dete Samay

Om ghrini suryay namah ॥
Ehi surya sahasransho tejorashe jagatpate ।
Anukampay man bhaktya grihanarghyan divakar ॥

O Surya Dev of a thousand rays, store of radiance, lord of the world, come; be gracious to me and accept this arghya offered with devotion.

Dipak Jalate Samay

Shubhan karoti kalyanamarogyan dhanasampada ।
Shatrubuddhivinashay dipajyotirnamo'stu te ॥

You who bring auspiciousness, well-being, health and wealth, and destroy thoughts of enmity — O light of the lamp, I bow to you.

Guru Vandna

Gururbrahma gururvishnurgururdevo maheshvarah ।
Guruh sakshat parabrahma tasmai shrigurve namah ॥

The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Maheshwar; the Guru is the Supreme Brahman itself — I bow to that Shri Guru.

Samarpan

Tvamev mata cha pita tvamev
Tvamev bandhushch sakha tvamev ।
Tvamev vidya dravinan tvamev
Tvamev sarvan mam dev dev ॥

O God of gods, you alone are my mother, father, brother and friend; you are my knowledge and my wealth; you are my everything.
